Crowns, veneers and dentures

A crown fully covers a damaged tooth and gives back its shape, colour and strength. Veneers are thin shells on the front of a tooth. Dentures replace several teeth at once.

When you need it

  • A tooth is badly damaged and a filling won't hold
  • After root canal treatment — the tooth becomes brittle
  • A crown is needed on an implant
  • Front teeth aesthetics — veneers
  • Several teeth are missing — dentures

How the treatment works

  1. 1

    Examination and X-ray

We check the roots. If needed, the canals are treated first.

  2. crown shape
    2

    Preparing the tooth

Under anaesthesia, the tooth is carefully shaped to fit the future crown.

  3. 3

    Impression and shade

We take a precise impression and choose the shade together with you.

  4. temporary

    Temporary crown

It protects the tooth and keeps your smile while the dental lab makes the permanent crown.

  5. 5

    Fitting and fixing

We check the bite and colour, then fix the crown in place.

Veneers and dentures

For veneers the tooth is shaped minimally, only at the front — the steps are the same. Dentures can be removable or fixed; the dentist recommends the option after the examination.

How long it takes

Usually 2–3 visits.

After the procedure

  • For the first day, don't chew hard food on the new crown
  • Brush it like your own teeth and use floss
  • If the crown gets in the way when you close your teeth, tell the dentist straight away
